Reopened recently, Olympus is Maldives oldest cinema, where you can go to watch movies and see local artists play.
Olympus cinema was established in 1959, and paved the way for local entertainment talents to thrive. Actors filmmakers, playwrights, and musician were able to showcase their talents on the Olympus Stage. in the 70s and 80s, the Dhivehi film industry started blossoming with the rise of filmmakers and producers displaying their productions on the silver screen. Recently, in 2019, the government decided to upgrade and renovate the building to provide state of the art facilities for local artists.
